Training for staff. Drivers and attendants were to be trained on road safety and on what to do in an emergency.
State-wide fitness checks (June 2026). The New Indian Express reported that the MVD put school buses through fitness checks before reopening, and that some private schools put back their reopening dates while buses waited for clearance.
Why buses failed. The reasons listed include missing blind-spot mirrors, camera and recording gaps, faulty speed governors, and GPS units that did not work with the MVD's Suraksha Mitra tracking software.
Who fixes it. The Transport Commissioner, as reported, said delays in repairs rest with the schools and institutions.
