UHF Attendance System for Schools: How It Works
Last checked: 3 October 2026. Our own product, so read with that in mind. My School Ride is a product of Satcop India Pvt. Ltd, the company behind this website. We show where each fact comes from. How we compare
Quick answer
A UHF attendance system uses tags that a reader can detect automatically as a student passes. There is no tap and no queue at a card reader. As described on the Satcop India website, My School Ride uses UHF readers at school gates or classrooms for automatic pass-by detection, so there is no manual roll call at the entrance. On the school bus, the site describes RFID cards that students tap on a handrail reader instead.
How UHF attendance works
The Satcop India website describes three steps:
- Issue tags. Students carry RFID or UHF tags, often built into their ID cards.
- Place readers. Readers go at school gates and/or classrooms (and, for the bus, on the handrail).
- Sync to the apps. Records appear in real time for school admins, with optional alerts for parents.
Attendance is recorded as it happens, and reports go to the school system.
UHF or RFID tap: what is the difference?
| RFID card (tap) | UHF tag (pass-by) | |
|---|---|---|
| How a student is counted | The student taps the card on a reader | A reader detects the tag as the student passes |
| Where My School Ride uses it | On the school bus, on a handrail reader | At school gates or classrooms |
| Effort at the door | One tap per student | No tap. No manual roll call at the entrance |
Both are described on the Satcop India website as part of the same attendance system. Read more in our guides to RFID attendance in schools and RFID attendance on school buses.
What the school and parents see
- School: a real-time view of who is present or absent, and reports by class, grade or date that are ready for school systems.
- Parents: an attendance view in the parent app. SMS or app board alerts are sent where the school enables them. The site says terms may apply.
- Less paperwork: the site says it cuts manual roll calls and paper-based records.
Does the Gazette require UHF attendance?
No. The Maharashtra Gazette of 16 July 2026 asks the school and the bus or van operator to keep a daily attendance record of every student using a school bus, including the time of boarding and de-boarding (rule 6C). It also asks for digital attendance in the app that is part of the Digital Safety Monitoring System (rule 10A). The Gazette does not mention UHF or RFID, and we do not say any set-up meets the rules by itself. Vehicles must comply within three months from Gazette publication (16 July 2026). Ask your RTO about the date that applies to you.
Questions to ask any seller
