School Bus Tracking in Dehradun: What Schools Should Know
School vehicle decisions in Dehradun: what has been reported
Uttarakhand's capital
Dehradun is in Uttarakhand. We opened two dated reports in Hindi, one from ETV Bharat and one from Amar Ujala. We did not see the official minutes. Please read the points as news reports and check them with the Dehradun RTO.
- What the RTA meeting covered (September 2026). ETV Bharat reported on a meeting of the Dehradun Regional Transport Authority (RTA) that put the safety of school children first among its road safety and public transport items.
- Fittings and staff. As reported, the decisions for school buses, vans and other vehicles that carry children named GPS, CCTV, a fire extinguisher, a first-aid kit and a woman attendant or guard. The report also lists valid permit, fitness and insurance papers and trained drivers and conductors.
- Driver checks and crowding. The report says schools are to arrange police verification and a yearly health check for drivers, that action will follow when more children are seated than a vehicle allows, and that vehicles will be checked regularly.
- A school-level inspection (August 2026). Amar Ujala reported that the transport department and a school's own team inspected the school's buses and vans together. They looked at brakes, tyres, lights and speed governors, and tested whether fire extinguishers, first-aid boxes, CCTV and GPS tracking were working.
- After the inspection. The same report says emergency exits and drivers' licences were verified, and the school management and drivers were told to keep up regular maintenance and a daily check before each trip.

Dehradun school bus set-ups and what each one needs
The points below are general, each with questions you can ask. No customer stories are used.
A daily check before each trip
The inspection team asked for a daily check before each trip. A paper checklist is easy to lose. Ask any seller: Can the driver or attendant record the pre-trip check on the phone, and can the school see the record?
Does the camera or GPS actually work?
The inspection tested whether CCTV and GPS were working, not only whether they were fitted. Ask any seller: How does the school see that a device has gone quiet? As described on the Satcop India website, a 4G GPS device sends the bus location about every 5 seconds.
A woman attendant or guard on board
ETV Bharat names a woman attendant or guard for each vehicle. The school then needs a record of who rode which bus. Ask: Can the attendant mark attendance in an app? As described on the Satcop India website, the driver and attendant app has an attendant attendance mark.
Hill routes in the morning
Routes toward the hills have slopes and bends, and mist can slow a morning run. This is general knowledge, not a report. Ask: What does a parent see when the bus is late on such a route?
How My School Ride fits
My School Ride is a school bus tracking system from Satcop India Pvt. Ltd. Here is what the Satcop India website says it includes: students tap RFID cards on a reader on the bus and the attendance record is made in real time; the parent app shows a live map, pickup and drop reminders and an alert about 2 km before the stop; you can choose optional 4G cameras and dashcams, which give a live feed where enabled; and a transport manager dashboard and an admin console are included. Camera, live-feed and fee-payment options are tied to the school package.
Please do not read this as proof of any list of checks. Ask for the device model and its test details, and take each point to your RTO.
