District Road Safety Committee (June 2026). The Tribune reported on a Karnal road safety review that noted inspections of school buses under the Safe School Vehicle Policy during the month, with challans for violations.
A check at school closing time (September 2025). Amar Ujala reported that, on the order of the SDM at Gharaunda, a joint team from the education and roadways departments checked school vehicles at various junctions when schools closed.
What they found. The report says several vehicles had serious defects, and one van of a private play-way school was carrying far more children than its seats allowed. Notices were given to several private schools.
What the SDM said. The SDM said the safety of children would not be compromised, that show-cause notices would be issued to the schools concerned, and that school managements were warned of strict action for future lapses.

Answering a show-cause notice

A school that gets a notice needs to reply with facts. Ask any seller: What trip, stop and attendance reports can the school print for a given bus and day?

Fields, canals and the highway belt

Karnal sits among farmland and a busy highway belt, and winter fog can slow a run. This is general knowledge, not a report. Ask: What does a parent see when the bus runs late in fog?
