School Bus Panic Button and SOS: How It Works
Last checked: 4 October 2026. Our own product, so read with that in mind. My School Ride is a product of Satcop India Pvt. Ltd, the company behind this website. We show where each fact comes from. How we compare
Quick answer
My School Ride is a school bus tracking system from Satcop India Pvt. Ltd, trusted by 200+ schools. For emergencies it gives two things, as described on the Satcop India website:
- An SOS in the driver and attendant app. The app lists "SOS to admin", and the school bus page lists "SOS and wrong-direction alerts for staff".
- An SOS/panic input on the AIS-140 device. The device's safety I/O includes SOS/panic, immobilization, and ignition, door and tamper alerts.
Which device is fitted on your buses, and where its button is placed, depends on the set-up you choose. Ask us for the device model when you book a demo.
What the SOS does in the app
The driver and attendant app is the app staff use on the bus. As the Satcop India website describes it, the app lists navigation and trip details, assigned students, an in/out report, pickup optimization, a wrong-direction alert, an attendant attendance mark and "SOS to admin". When the driver or attendant sends an SOS, it goes to the school admin.
The school bus page also says staff get "SOS and wrong-direction alerts". The Transport Manager dashboard and the Admin Console are the places where the school sees the bus and its trips.
What the SOS/panic input does on the device
Satcop's AIS-140 device page says: "Safety I/O: SOS/panic, immobilization, ignition/door/tamper alerts." The page's FAQ asks, "Does the device have an SOS input?" and answers "Yes." The same page says the device is designed to meet AIS 140 standards as laid down by ARAI, physically tested by ICAT for 60 days — with GPS, GLONASS, and IRNSS (GAGAN) support.
Where the button sits on the bus, and who gets the alert from it, is part of how the system is set up for your school. Ask us about your set-up.
